Just started using Zbrush on Thursday. It's been kicking my ass all weekend but I'm finally getting the hang of it. The bastard shitshow that it is.

Signed up for the daily spitsketch group on facebook. Will be a good motivator and should help keep me lose and flexible. Which I desperately need to counter my daily illustration routine which requires such a strict and regimented process. First speed paint I've done in a while, felt good. May need to recalibrate my monitor at work though, as the image is far darker than it should be on other monitors.

This week's lunch crunch theme is He-man. I did a quick sketch this afternoon after work of Keldor, who later becomes Skeletor.

The brief was to sell armour items without showing key details of the items. Had to make it more exciting with lot's of flashy effects and moody lighting to add drama.

The background was a mish mash of art work pieces produced by two artists that also worked with the IP, that I combined and heavily edited for purpose... they originally looked quite different.

Overall it was quite interesting dealing with such a challenging brief... being asked to sell something that I couldn't fully show was awkward at times but I learned a few things.

Another lunchtime substrata sketch. Need to drop the weird rib fins - it's breaking the silhouette. Might just have the rib bones framing the open wound around the chest. Should work better I think.
